The abundant life of the Sea of Cortez will make you want to come back again, and again, and again...

Gray Whales

Peak season JANUARY-MARCH.  Gray whales migrate from the cold waters of the Arctic to the warmer lagoons of Baja California Sur to give birth and nurse their calves.

Humbpack Whales

DECEMBER-APRIL These majestic creatures can be seen breaching and playing in the Sea of Cortez.

Sea lions

YEAR ROUND except June-August, closed due to mating season. Playful and curious, found at Los Islotes. Great for snorkeling and diving.

Whale Sharks

NOVEMBER-APRIL
Gentle giants seen in the shallow waters at El Mogote. Ideal for snorkeling.

Mobula Rays

APRIL-JULY
Known for their acrobatic leaps out of the water, often seen in large groups.

Orcas

YEAR ROUND-Occasional sightings.  Rare but occasionally seen, usually when chasing other marine mammals.

Dolphins

YEAR ROUND- Commonly seen, with opportunities to spot various species during boat tours.

Fish Schools

YEAR ROUND-Schools of colorful fish, including jacks and sardines, are abundant.

Snorkel with the most playful sea lions!

Los Islotes hosts hundreds of these charismatic sea lions. They  are often seen amusing themselves performing acrobatic leaps, and interacting with snorkelers and divers. Their friendly behavior make this a must-visit spot for wildlife enthusiasts and adventurers alike.

From the end of April to July, witness the incredible spectacle of these graceful creatures as they glide and leap through the water.
